Superintendents are in the top 1% of police officers in terms of rank and seniority. The Direct Entry programme is your opportunity to switch career and join their ranks. This is how to make a major impact on the Met - and on London and its communities.
You've led before; now lead beyond
The Direct Entry programme gives you the chance to look beyond the limits of your current career - and forge a new and exciting future in the Metropolitan Police
London is a large, complex and culturally diverse city, which presents a wide variety of challenges. That's why we're looking for inspiring leaders who can bring us different experiences and learning from outside the criminal justice system.
You can harness your strategic experience and fresh ideas to forge an exciting new career within the Police. Your ability to improve organisational performance and manage people and budgets can also help us to bring about fundamental, positive changes to both police culture and business performance.
With up to 200 staff under your command as a Superintendent, you will be putting strategic business plans into action, determining priorities relating to safety, social inclusion and the prevention and reduction of crime and antisocial behaviour. Over the 18 month programme, we'll give you all the training, development and support you need in preparation.
The majority of your learning (c.70%) will be on the job, including rotations at constable, sergeant and inspector level, where you'll gain exposure to different policing situations. You'll also receive classroom training at a College of Policing site, as well as specific Met training to ensure you understand every aspect of this challenging role.
